Choosing an artificial orchid that looks real

Orchids are one of the hardest flowers to fake well, and one of the easiest to spot when it’s done badly. Here’s what makes the difference, and how to choose the right one for your space.

Real Touch or standard?

Our Real Touch orchids have petals and leaves with a soft, slightly waxy feel and natural colour variation, like a living phalaenopsis. Choose them where people will see them up close: a dining table, a bedside, a bathroom vanity or a reception desk. Our standard orchids give the same shape and colour for less, and suit higher shelves, window ledges and arrangements seen from across the room. Each product says whether it’s Real Touch.

Ready-potted or loose stems?

Most of our orchids arrive already potted, in the ceramic, stone, clay, glass, woven or paper pot named on each product, so they’re ready to place the day they arrive. If you’d rather use a vase you already own, the White Phalaenopsis Orchid Spray comes as a pack of 6 stems.

Which size suits your space?

40–55cm: desks, bathroom vanities, windowsills and side tables.
60–85cm: dining tables, hallway consoles, sideboards and reception counters.
1m–1.1m: entrances, corners and anywhere you want a statement piece.

Choosing a colour

White orchids suit almost any interior, from Scandi and coastal to modern black-and-white. Yellow, burgundy, raspberry, magenta, lilac and orange add colour to a neutral room. Looking after them

Dust gently every month or two with a soft, dry brush or a hairdryer on a cool setting. Keep them out of strong direct sun to protect the colour.
