Extended Warranty Terms

We want you to enjoy your APS plants for as long as possible. This page sets out exactly what we cover under our standard warranty and our optional extended warranty — what’s included, what isn’t, and what to do if you ever need to make a claim.

If you’ve purchased the Extended Warranty (3 Years) with your order, the warranty certificate emailed to you at the time of purchase is your formal record. This page is the public reference and is kept up to date.

For any questions, email admin@artificialplantshop.com.au.

Your Australian Consumer Law rights

The following rights apply automatically to every APS product purchase, regardless of any warranty you have purchased. They cannot be excluded by any warranty, including the extended warranty described on this page:

“Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.”

Any warranty we offer is in addition to those rights, not a substitute for them.

Standard 1-year warranty (included with every product)

Every APS product is automatically covered by a standard 1-year warranty from the date of purchase. The standard warranty applies regardless of whether you’ve purchased an extended warranty, and covers:

  • Manufacturing defects
  • Material faults
  • Failure to be of acceptable quality

How we resolve claims under the standard warranty:

We’ll replace your product with the same SKU if it’s still available. If the original product has been discontinued, we’ll provide an equivalent product of comparable value to your original purchase price. Partial refund is only used as a last resort, and only with your agreement.

Extended warranty (optional add-on)

You can add the Extended Warranty (3 Years) to your order at checkout. It provides three additional years of cover beyond your standard 1-year warranty, totalling four years of cover from the date of your original purchase.

The extended warranty is sold by tier, scaled to the value of your order:

Order subtotal Extended warranty fee Total cover
$0 – $300 $29.95 4 years from purchase
$300 – $700 $49.95 4 years from purchase
$700 – $1,500 $79.95 4 years from purchase
$1,500 + $99.95 4 years from purchase

The extended warranty is opt-in and never pre-applied to your cart. If you don’t tick the warranty option at checkout, you simply don’t buy it — your standard 1-year warranty and your statutory rights still apply.

What the extended warranty covers (year 2 through year 4)

The extended warranty applies to indoor-rated products in your order, used indoors as labelled on the product page. It covers the following failures occurring within the cover period:

  • Real-touch coating deterioration — peeling, tackiness, or cracking beyond reasonable wear
  • Structural integrity failures — broken stems, broken bases, glue-point failures
  • Leaf shedding beyond reasonable wear
  • Manufacturing defects emerging within years 2 to 4

How we resolve claims under the extended warranty:

Same approach as the standard warranty. Replacement of the same SKU if available; equivalent product of comparable value if discontinued; partial refund only as a last resort, only with your agreement. No return shipping is required for fault assessment in standard cases.

What the extended warranty does NOT cover

The extended warranty does not extend to any of the following, regardless of whether they occur during the cover period:

  • Any product placed in an external environment. Our terms and conditions exclude outdoor placement from warranty cover. This applies even to UV-treated products that are labelled as suitable for outdoor use.
  • UV, sun, fade, or weather damage of any kind, regardless of placement, regardless of whether UV spray has been applied.
  • Products labelled for outdoor use are not eligible for the extended warranty. The extended warranty option is automatically hidden at checkout for any cart that contains only outdoor-labelled products.
  • Physical damage and accidental damage from impact, drops, knocks, pets, children, post-delivery handling, transit damage after delivery, or any other accidental cause.
  • Damage from cleaning chemicals, pressure washing, or abrasive cleaning.
  • Acts of nature — flood, fire, storm, hail, or similar.
  • Use beyond residential or interior commercial decorative purpose.
  • Pre-existing damage at delivery. This is covered separately by the standard manufacturer warranty and your Australian Consumer Law rights — not by this extended warranty.
  • Cosmetic preferences. Change of mind about colour, style, or fit is not a covered failure.

Cover period and validity

The extended warranty is valid for three years following the expiry of the standard 1-year warranty, totalling four years of cover from the date of your original APS order.

The extended warranty applies only to the order it was attached to at the time of purchase. It is not transferable to other orders or to subsequent owners of the products.

How to make a claim

To make a claim under the standard or extended warranty, email admin@artificialplantshop.com.au with:

  1. Your original order number (visible on your order confirmation email)
  2. Clear photographs showing the issue
  3. A brief description of the failure

What happens next:

  • We’ll confirm receipt of your claim within 2 business days, with a claim reference number.
  • We’ll assess your claim within 5 business days. We may request additional photos or information.
  • We’ll resolve your claim by replacement, equivalent product, or partial refund as described above.

No return shipping is required for fault assessment in standard cases. We’ll let you know if return is needed for any specific claim.

Common questions

Do I need to keep my warranty certificate?

We recommend saving the PDF certificate emailed to you when you purchased the extended warranty. It contains your terms and a record of your cover. That said, your purchase is also recorded against your order in our system — if you’ve lost the certificate, we can verify your warranty from your order number.

Can I add the extended warranty after I’ve placed my order?

The extended warranty is purchased at checkout. We can’t add it to an order after the fact because the warranty pricing is tied to your order subtotal at time of purchase.

Can I transfer my extended warranty to someone else?

The extended warranty applies only to the original purchaser and the original order. It’s not transferable to subsequent owners of the products or to different orders.

What if the original product I bought has been discontinued?

We’ll provide an equivalent product of comparable value to your original purchase price. We aim to find the closest substitute available; if nothing in the catalogue is suitable, we may offer a partial refund instead, but only with your agreement.

What about products I bought before the extended warranty was offered?

The extended warranty is only available at the time of purchase. Existing customers continue to have their standard 1-year warranty and their statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

My product is for outdoor use — why can’t I buy the extended warranty?

The extended warranty covers indoor placement only. Our terms and conditions have always excluded outdoor placement from warranty cover, because UV exposure, weather, and other outdoor conditions can damage artificial plants in ways that aren’t manufacturing or material defects. UV-treated products are designed to withstand outdoor use better than untreated products, but they’re still subject to the same exclusion.

What if APS isn’t around in 4 years?

We’ve been operating for over a decade and have no plans to go anywhere. The extended warranty is a contractual obligation of our trading entity for as long as it’s in business. We don’t promise corporate immortality, but we take this commitment seriously.

In summary

You have three layers of protection on every APS product:

  1. Your Australian Consumer Law rights — automatic, can’t be excluded, apply regardless of any warranty.
  2. Your standard 1-year warranty — included with every APS product at no extra cost.
  3. Your optional extended warranty — three additional years of cover, available at checkout, indoor-rated products only.

The extended warranty is in addition to layers 1 and 2. Nothing on this page limits or excludes those rights.
